This is our dear friend Malcolm. He is Zambian but has lived his entire life in South Africa. Ever since he was little he has dreamed of becoming a journalist. Therefore, he was very excited when he got accepted to study at University of Derby, University of Nottingham and University of the arts in London after school. However, he was unable to pay the tuition fees.
So instead, he stayed in South Africa to work for a digital marketing company as a Social Media and Blog content creator. (Luckily for us because that way we got the chance to meet this amazing person when we were working as a volunteer in South Africa in 2018.) Now he will not be able to continue working as a freelancer for South African companies anymore. Either he will have to back to Zambia, where he does not even speak the native language and will have no perspective of becoming a journalist, OR he could go to Germany to try fulfilling his dream a second time. At Leuphana University in Lüneburg they offer the ideal course, Digital Media, to prepare him for finally becoming a journalist. There is only one problem: In order to apply for a visa to enter Germany he needs 10.000€ to enter Germany - a sum of money he is unable to earn until August with his current wage.
While Malcolm might have lost faith in accomplishing his dream, we refuse to stop believing in him. He is not just a very skilled and dedicated writer with a strong work-ethic, but also and exceptional friend and human being: He doesn't put his phone on flight mode at night, so that you can always reach him when you feel uncomfortable walking home alone late. Whenever there was danger or conflict, he put his friends first and stepped in to make sure everyone was safe and would get home safe. Most importantly, he treats everyone around him with respect, is always considerate to never overstep anyone's boundaries and will always care about you and your feelings deeply. There are no problems you cannot tell him about. He will always listen to you patiently and give you exactly that piece of advice you needed to hear.
Put shortly: Malcolm is amazing and you would be just as amazing if you helped make his dream come true. Go fund one of the greatest journalists of tomorrow!
Thank you for even reading this and kind regards,
