We are raising money to buy visors for hospitals for the staff who desperately need this critical piece of equipment to protect themselves from contracting Covid 19 . Many hospitals are short of personal protective equipment (PPE), visors, masks and scrubs. We are raising money for visors. We are also happy to help GPs and care homes where the need arises.
We are based in London and have made a connection with AV Birch a manufacturer in the Midlands who are now making visors that comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment - Category 1 and we have received their EC declaration of conformity. Medical equipment needs to comply with these requirements so these are Category 1 hospital grade visors.
These cost £1.70 per visor and my friend who is a Consultant at University College London (UCL) hospital says they need 1000 visors a fortnight.
AV Birch can currently make 500 a week for our initiative but we expect them to increase this to 1500 week within the next fortnight, if we have raised the funds to pay for them. Visors will be shipped directly to the hospitals we are in contact with.
We will supply any hospital that we have a contact for in London and are currently connecting to St Thomas's, Kings and the PRUH. If any other London hospitals need these please do contact me and provided we have the money raised we will get them for you.
All donations will go directly to buying the visors and will cover their postage to the hospitals.
We need to protect our frontline NHS staff. Please donate generously to this fund raiser.
£17 will buy 10 visors.
£85 will buy 50 visors.
£170 will buy 100 visors.
We are aiming to raise £15 000 as this will be enough to buy about 1500 visors a week for 6 weeks.
I live opposite my consultant friend in Beckenham, South East London. My name is Sam O'Neill and my good friend Janick found and has liaised with AV Birch. I'm making home made visors for staff at her hospital, as are many of our friends, for other local medical staff. But we realised we cannot get the quantity the hospitals need by making the visors at home, although we will keep doing this too. So we have tried to source visors from China and from local schools with 3D printers. But the most cost effective and reliable way to get the quantity and quality we need is to use British manufactures. We are delighted to have found AV Birch who have already sent their first 100 masks to UCH today as are sending 100 more on Monday.
Please help us send 1000s of masks to our frontline staff.
We are happy to be 100% transparent about our fund raising and keep records and receipts.
If we raised more than we can spend on visors we will donate the rest to the NHS fund.
