May 29 UPDATE: THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your prayers and for coming along side me financially! Stay the course is my prayer of hearts! Mid-June is coming for the scleral lens or lenses - the Specialist will make that decision.

Drops: Staying the course with the compounded for 6 more months. I am grateful beyond measure and ALSO did the math of the total for these months. $7,968. I closed my eyes in prayer!

ORIGINAL: In late January of this year, bacteria got into my left eye causing an infection that produced a corneal ulcer that threatened loss of vision in that eye. Since then, I have been on a whirlwind adventure that has included numerous visits to the University of Minnesota Ophthalmology Specialty Team. With answered prayers and medical intervention, the corneal ulcer has healed but a scar on my cornea could not be avoided, and my eyesight is still in jeopardy. The doctors have moved me to a new regimen of eyedrops that are not FDA approved, but that are showing great results in reducing the scarring. The prayer is that I will be able to use a scleral contact lens beginning in mid-June. If the eyedrops don’t work, I will need to move forward with a corneal transplant.

I am a self-employed business owner. Because of my inability to consistently work through this process, I have found myself in a place where I need to reach out for financial help as I regain my ability to effectively do my job. I am balancing the need to rest and focus on what I need to do to heal with the need to cover some heavy-hitting out-of-pocket medical expenses. The new regimen of eyedrop is compounded specifically for me with an out-of-pocket cost of $1,328.00/month.

Asking for help is difficult. First and foremost, I’m asking for prayer for quick healing. Second, I’m asking you to consider helping me financially as I get back on my feet.
