Vision of the Heart - Hurricane Relief Fundraiser

Dear Family and Tribe,
on May 30th 2022 our beautiful project "Vision of the Heart" was hit, full on, by a strong category 2 hurricane.
We are going to be honest with you, we have never seen a level of destruction and desperation like this. On our farm alone, houses swamped away, 1000s of trees that are heavily damaged or fell. The hurricane killed 99% of our 10 000 banana plants. Landslides and falling trees destroyed around 120 000 coffee plants - more than 50% of the overall crop. Hundreds of our younger Cacao trees died. It will take decades to recuperate what is lost.
The reality is - the farm already struggled a lot financially before the hurricane hit.
Three of our beautiful families NOW are left without a roof over their head. I have seen the local women crying in desperation when they realized that they might not only have lost their houses but also their jobs, as the farm is not able to recover from this without outside help.
In the first days after the hurricane hit, we were shocked, paralyzed and deeply sad. We wanted to give up. Why us?
But then we started to realize that the hurricane maybe destroyed our beautiful plants and a lot of material things. But luckily we all survived.
It doesn´t matter what language you speak, where you come from, if you are rich or poor. In front of the hurricane we are all the same. What is growing in our heart is a deep sense of togetherness and the realization that we can stand up again, no matter what life hits us with, together & stronger than before.
We have already started to rebuild basic infrastructure and are planning to start rebuilding our farmers houses, as soon as we have the available funds and support.
For this we need financial help.
In the last weeks we have analyzed the situation and developed an Action Plan to rescue the farm and our beautiful Nature Sanctuary
"Vision of the Heart".
To execute this plan we need to Crowdfund a total of 70 000 €.
The necessary funds are structured by priority:
Action Plan and Funding
Priority 1: Immediate Humanitarian Help and Farm Rescue (24 000 EUR)
We want to make sure the farmers and their families have a roof over their head and food to eat, for the next months to come.
1a) Funds for the Re-Construction of Basic Housing and Farm Infrastructure (12 000 EUR)
These funds will be used to repair housing of the local workers and the farms facilities and infrastructure.
1b) Funds to support pay the farmers within the next 6 months.
Usually at this time of the year the wages are completely refinanced through the sales of banana. The farm lost 99% of the around 24 000 Banana plants. The farms private credit lines are exhausted. With this funding we assure that all farmers can be paid and will be able to feed their children.
Priority 2: Re-Planting Volunteer Programme (16 000 EUR)
We will run a 6-month Volunteer Program, starting August with helpers from around the world. We will design a re-planting program in cooperation with permacultural design professionals.
For this program we will build additional basic accommodation and provide food, there will be workshops to attend etc.
The program will host up to 12 volunteers.
Priority 3: Vision of the Heart Sanctuary Rescue Funds (10 000 EUR)
Until now "Vision of the Heart" covered operational costs and the costs of the volunteer program, through the financial contributions of our retreat and Airbnb guests. Any profit generated was re-invested into renovating and building Bamboo Huts or initial investments for accommodation/kitchen. There are no funds available for the necessary repair and renovation of the projects infrastructure (e.g. water-supply) facilities and constructions to prevent damage from further landslides. We need these funds to be able to operate again.
Priority 4: Healing Temple Crowdfunding (20 000 EUR)
Before the storm hit us we already planned to run a crowdfunding to build a Main Hall to be able to run Group Retreats and Events. We dream to build this temple with the help of our wonderful tribe of "La Presencia" festival. Help us to rise from the Ashes like a Phoenix!
