The Vishnu Murthy Foundation (https://www.vishnumurthyfoundation.org/) was created to honor the life of Vishnu Murthy, our incredible son, and student at the University of Michigan. The Vishnu Murthy Foundation develops scholarship programs and social impact initiatives in Washington D.C, India, and at the University of Michigan to assist young adults who share Vishnu’s dreams to make the world a better and brighter place.
Vishnu was a brilliant young man known for his kindness, selflessness, and unwavering passion for helping those around him. Growing up in Fairfax, Virginia, Vishnu loved skateboarding, doing puzzles, listening to podcasts, and biking. He was actively involved in the Kaveri Kannada Association, Model UN and the President of Technology Student Association. He was always looking to help people, especially in increasing accessibility in education, creating an equal playing field for all members of the community. At the young age of 19, Vishnu had started several entrepreneurial initiatives such as incoMing, TJ Test Prep, and EduAvenues which were designed to help young adults in high school and college on their educational journeys through extensive tutoring and mentorship.
During his time at the University of Michigan, Vishnu was an honor Computer Science and Data Science student through the School of Engineering. He was actively involved in many clubs, including MECC Consulting Group and the Michigan Real Estate Club where he won several awards for his leadership. Vishnu loved making people around him laugh until their stomachs would hurt and engage in thoughtful conversations with his friends and family.
His passion for giving back and always giving his best effort made Vishnu so special to the people and communities he was a part of. His life was a blessing to the world, and his memory is a treasure that we will hold in our hearts forever. As the saying goes, life is not measured by its length, but by its depth. Our Vishnu lived every single day to the fullest - touching the lives of more people in two decades than most people do in their lifetime. Vishnu will live eternally in all of our hearts. His work continues to live through the minds of many people he mentored, smiles that he brought, colorful dances he did, games that he played, soulful songs he sang, gardens that he tended, and lives that he touched.
