It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Vishnu Kumarasingam, 86, who was born in Singapore on 16 May 1934. He passed away in Montreal Canada, on 23 January 2021.
Our Papa was altruistic and generous with his time and love. He took pride in his relationships with friends and family across the world and took pleasure in creating lasting memories for every life he touched.
Papa graduated from Poona University, India, and received a Master’s degree from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He began his career in Sri Lanka at the Agricultural Research Station in Nuwara Eliya, before launching his teaching career at The Palaly Teachers Training College. He retired as the Head of the Department of Agriculture at the Katsina Polytechnic, Nigeria, before moving to Canada. A learned man, he valued education above all and loved to create teachable moments in his interactions with people - especially with his grandchildren.
In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vishnu Kumarasingam Scholarship Fund which would help create opportunities for youth in the study of Agriculture to ensure the advancement of food security as a basic human need.
