Hello, I am a trans woman migrant sex worker currently living in Australia.
Right now, I am going through a very difficult time, I need support to help pay for my visa costs and continue my studies before July.
After giving my time and energy into a student placement position, I was denied my certificate of placement from the organisation that I worked for. They exploited me for my time and labour, refusing to acknowledge the 300+ hours of work I did was a 'valid student placement'. Because of this, I was unable to finish my studies with my previous place of education. This posed significant risk to my visa and led to the cancellation of my Certificate of Education.
During this time, I reached out to other sex worker friendly organisations in NSW to seek support, but was again denied due to 'conflicts of interest'.
Going through this situation has reflected the difficult reality of seeking support as an Asian migrant trans sex worker in Australia and the discrimination I face often. The sex worker peers who were willing to assist me were other workers that shared an Asian migrant background. However, they have also received severe consequences at their workplace due to being involved.
Even with their help, we do not have the same powers as the white people in positions of power.
I never thought that one day I would be in this situation, but I am still trying to stay strong and keep moving forward. After experiencing sexual assault during my student placement, it has deeply affected my life emotionally and financially.
Right now, I am struggling with expenses, including accommodation and education costs, while still trying to continue my studies and keep my life going.
I do not want to give up, but I cannot get through this alone.
If you are able to support me, it would mean so much.
