LOS ANGELES, CA — May 1, 2020 — Virtual Guitar Orchestra (VGO), a global guitar community initiative founded by Mak Grgić, launched the release of its first video, Kaleidokithara. The new composition by celebrated composer and guitarist Sérgio Assad gave 115 guitarists from more than fifty countries the chance to share the virtual stage with twenty- eight internationally-renowned guitar soloists including David Russell, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Odair Assad, Ana Vidović, Yamandu Costa, Berta Rojas, Pepe Romero, and Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Masterfully edited and mixed by VGO co-creator Uroš Barič, the video combines the individual recordings—all filmed during Covid-19 self-isolation—into a stunning audiovisual kaleidoscope. VGO is now embarking on its 2nd big project (not to say that there won't be a 3rd, which we are hoping to raise funds for as well here)! This time the classical guitarists will join forces with famous fingerstyle guitar players from all over. This project will symbolize the symbiosis of diverse genres shaped into artistic unity as a mean of global audience development for this lovely instrument.
Q: WHO WILL PARTICIPATE?
A: The 2nd project's core group of soloists will consist of stars from the world of fingerstyle, classical guitar and 165 players from all around the world! The line up for the 3rd will be announced when the 2nd one is premiered!
Q: WHO ARE THE STARS MENTIONED ABOVE?
A1: Fingerstyle: Ralph Towner, Peppino D'Agostino, Romero Lubambo, Sylvain Luc, Antoine Boyer, Joe Robinson, Martin Taylor, Miroslav Tadic, Thomas Leeb, Don Ross, Mike Dawes, Alieksey Vianna

Q: WHO WILL BENEFIT?
A: All of us! Making music, together, playing alongside our heroes, is a dream come true!
Q: HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
A: From the $5000 raised for each video, $2500 will be used for video and audio editing, $500 for admin costs and $2000 for a guitar relief program. 10 Corona relief scholarships, $200 each, will be awarded to 10 players who apply to participate in our VGO by submitting a relief request via our website (virtualguitarorchestra.com). We are hoping to raise twice that much to be able to secure the future of two upcoming projects, hence the $10000 mark! Let's see how well we do ;)
Q: HOW SOON DO WE NEED THE FUNDS?
A: We are ready to go with our 2nd project, and a quick spoiler alert as presented above: we are already planning our 3rd and 4th one. It's going to be amazing!
Q: WHAT DOES THE SUPPORT MEAN TO US?
A: It means everything. It means that you all believe in us, that we can create common good for the artistic community, that we can bridge artistic gaps, that we can unite the love for the guitar across all platforms. It means that music on the guitar assumes a meaningful presence in all our lives.
Q: HOW CAN WE SHOW OUR GRATITUDE?
A: Simple. We will continue creating these amazing projects, uniting superstars of guitar with all the guitar lovers around the world and continue building the scholarship funds for all of you out there! Along the way we plan to leave a mark of artistic quality and integrity behind us, to show that social and artistic differences can be put aside for the common good, which is music.
