Virtual Clubhouse and beyond

August 24, Day 1 of synchronous learning. We have three students, in the clubhouse learning. This will be an interesting year.

August 10, Outdoor painting with Curtis Wallace from Be Creative. Curtis has taught art to students since the lock-in in March. 

July 17, the Having Opportunity for Positive Education, H.O.P.E. 2020-2012 Academic Year Plan was discussed and the students agreed upon it. We created a program which ensures academic success as well as physically and mentally healthy students. Educate Youth has been and will continue to support the students through the pandemic.

Crossover is highly recommended. Twice weekly, we have silent reading at Summer 2020 program. Educate Youth and Bowie College, a HBU, in Virginia are learning about one another for greater educational experiences for the students.

Peer tutoring at its best. A 2020 graduate tutoring a 2021 graduate. 

As a high school graduate, you are a part of this remarkable group of people who succeeded. In 2020, between 47%-85% of students graduate high school in Michigan. At the Educate Youth after school program graduation is 100%. Your support to Educate Youth is needed. Even a small donation could help Educate Youth reach their fundraising goal. And if you can't make a donation, it would be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word.


The graduation shirts are starting to go out to Educate Youth graduates.
When students graduate H.S., Educate Youth gives these t-shirts; a tradition which was created by a male student when he was in 10th grade. He is now in this last year at EMU!

More information about Educate Youth: The mission of Educate Youth guides and encourages Ypsilanti teens to earn their high school diploma with a two-year post HS plan and a goal of becoming future leaders who will strengthen and drive change in their community.

On March 13, when Governor Whitmer ordered schools closed, plans began immediately to start a
"virtual clubhouse" to maintain our successful "Having Opportunities for Positive Education, (H.O.P.E.)
programming. The virtual clubhouse meets 3pm-6pm Monday-Friday. All students completed all assignments for their classes for the 2019-2020school year. 

Summer plans are being made. Your gift ensures the students will have something to do this summer in a
COVID safe environment. 


The students created two songs~ "Stuck in the Crib" to give information about safe living during the coronavirus lockdown.
Song 2~ "Together as One " to shed light on positive aspects of a negative situation.
