Violins against Violence

Our mission is to establish a violin ensemble for the township children in South Africa! To start this project, we hope to purchase twenty violins.

Beats and Books is an academy that exists to serve disadvantaged children in the townships of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, areas marked by crime and poverty. The academy aims to facilitate community transformation by creating enabling environments where young people can learn music, English literacy, and numeracy skills that can empower them to step out of poverty. The staff at Beats and Books work tirelessly to provide the children with free daily tuition.

Every $120 that is donated will enable us to provide another child with a violin. Any additional funds will allow us to purchase essential materials and equipment for the program including a whiteboard, printer, stationary and music stands.

The students will participate in daily afternoon beginner classes. The initial phase of the violin project is expected to run over two school terms from 7th August to 8th December 2017.

Our target date for ordering violins is 10th July 2017!

Thank you for partnering with us! Your gift makes a difference.
