We’re a small group of close friends & family organizing this fundraiser for a family we love dearly.

Their sweet daughter, Violet, recently underwent major spinal surgery to address a tethered spinal cord and spinal lipoma. The surgery was necessary to protect her long-term mobility and health—and while it went well, her recovery will be long, intense, and emotionally and financially exhausting.

Violet is currently healing with two wound drains, a mesh over her surgical site, and ongoing neurological and urological follow-ups. The care team has added a spina bifida urologist to her case to monitor bladder and sphincter nerve function, and appointments will continue in the weeks and months ahead.

Here’s why we’re reaching out:

• Violet’s mom is out of paid time off and is now on unpaid leave while staying with her during recovery.

• The family is facing expenses for dog boarding, food, hospital travel, and more—all while one income is paused.

• They’ve also been hit with unexpected financial setbacks—like overpayment from maternity leave being deducted from paychecks—which is making this even harder.

They would never ask for help themselves, but we know how much they’ve supported others in their lives—and we want to show up for them now.
