Hi everyone. You may know my sweet little girl Violet. On January 20th, 2019, she was diagnosed with a large inoperable mass in her brain (most likely an intra axial tumor in the left parietal lobe).
Violet has created many smiles throughout her life, and she leaves a little joy with everyone she meets. She has given me a world of happiness over the past almost 7 years, and there are no words to describe how life will be without her.
Over the past 2 months she has been in and out of 4 different Veterinarian offices, as well as seen by a neurologist at VCA West Hospital in LA. Each vet that saw her tested for something different. She’s had multiple X-Rays, an ultrasound on her pancreas to rule out pancreatic cancer, several blood tests to test for Valley Fever, Addison’s Disease, Cancer, and Cryptocossus. This is what led me to the neurologist in LA, and because she didn’t believe it was neurological, they proceeded to do some of the above mentioned tests. After receiving a $1900 bill, again I left with no answers. At this point I was around $3200 in vet bills, but my biggest concern was finding out what was wrong so that my little girl could get to feeling better. My heart was breaking because I knew she was hurting, and although I was doing everything I could, it wasn’t taking her pain away. Violet was becoming depressed. She was having seizure like episodes (at first I was told these weren’t seizures), and she was vomiting every once in a while (probably due to pain). The neurologist put her on Gabapentin which helped tremendously with pain, but I still wasn’t sure what it was helping, as there was still no diagnosis. Two weeks went by, and seeing that she was still not getting better, I made another trip down to see a second neurologist, as I truly believed there was something neurological going on. I told this neurologist everything, every symptom she was having, every test she had been through, and stressed how different she was becoming. They FINALLY agreed to do an MRI in which they found the one thing I feared the most, a large mass in her brain. It was neurological just as I had suspected, and she was having partial seizures. It is inoperable, untreatable, and there is no cure for this. I cannot put her through the pain she’d surely endure just so that I could have her around for another 7 months to a year. I love her way too much. I am now faced with the unimaginable in having to say goodbye to Violet, the love of my life. I could never have put her to sleep without knowing I had no other choice. For those who don’t understand the love between a human and a dog, you are missing out. Violet has been my Velcro from the time I brought her home at 6 weeks old, and she has brought me an abundance of happiness, love, and laughter.
I’ve been asked by friends and friends I haven’t yet met how they can help; people who have been touched by Violet and want to contribute. For those who have been asking for a way to help, I’ve decided to set up this gofundme. If you would like to contribute to Violet’s cause, I would appreciate it immensely. I’m finding myself overwhelmed with her vet bills which have added up to almost $7000.00. For those who just took a big gulp, I would’ve put myself into any amount of debt if I knew I could’ve saved her. I love her so so much. There is no donation too small, every bit counts.
I’ve realized after speaking with specialists, that people surrender their pets, or even worse, they put them down because they cannot afford answers, or the medications their pets need in order to live a healthy life. I hope to not only help raise awareness on how important pet insurance is, but also to help raise money for other people in my situation so that they are capable of caring for their pets. I believe in Paying It Forward. So in short, the first $7,000 of my campaign’s goal will help pay the tremendous debt that has accumulated with all of Violet’s extensive testing. Anything above and beyond what may be raised will go directly to help others struggling with similar situations.
