Hi, my name is Violet Spencer, and I am a rising sophomore at Howard University - a place I've dreamed of attending since 6th grade. I come from a military family, and for the most part of my life, I've been far from my extended family. But Howard changed that. Being at the Mecca gave me the opportunity to grow academically, build lifelong friendships, and reconnect with my family in the area.

From the moment I got accepted on April 12th 2024, I knew this was where I belonged. My freshman year was filled with growth, learning, joy, and the beginning of the life I sought to achieve and worked so hard to build. Unfortunately, due to a significant increase in tuition costs, Howard's financial crisis, and loan barriers, I am currently unable to afford my sophomore year. Despite exhausting other options - countless scholarship applications, appeals. and federal aid - I am at a place where I need help.
