Jaybird's Viola & Lessons
Hi! My name is Jay. I'm an adult starter violist. 4 years ago, I was inspired to pick up an instrument, and I was drawn to the sound of a viola. I found a used viola on craigslist on the very same day, and started taking lessons before the week was over.
I practiced like a maniac, oftentimes all through the night into the sunrise! Initially, my primary drive was being able to play my favorite music from movie/game soundtracks. My skills increased with time, and I took on greater challenges as they came my way.
This past year, I played in 6 orchestral concerts - on the stages of Mission at Santa Clara University, Sacramento State... and even on the stage of the Davies Symphony Hall with the members of the San Francisco Symphony! I have also been working on a solo viola concerto for the past year, which I hope, I would be able to play on stage one day.
I want to go as far as I can go with my music, and prove to people who told me that "you can't teach an old dog a new trick," that not only can it be done... but you can go all the way with it! One of my favorite saying is, "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing." I kinda live and breathe it everyday.
Your donations will go toward lessons, as well as instrument maintenance needs as they come - string replacements and such. Oh, btw, my dream viola has been fully paid for!!! Yay! ^___^
In return, I'll keep pushing myself further and further in my music studies. Plus, you will see me come up with more YouTube videos (hey, want a personalized music gift?), and even more private concerts in my fencing trips!
