Hi! My name is Caroline, and I am the sole owner/operator of Vintage Skillet - a three-year-old vintage resale business specializing in mid-century modern furniture, art, housewares, fashion, decor, & more - with an emphasis on the bold, the retro, & the groovy.

I am looking to crowdfund an amount up to $5000 to help Vintage Skillet obtain a brick-and-mortar storefront space in the St. Louis, Missouri area. After having a storefront in a small town south of St. Louis for over a year and quickly outgrowing it, I decided to make the move up to the STL area to find a bigger space with more traffic and room to grow. Fast forward one year, and we’re ready to take the big leap!

I am hoping to crowdfund enough to help with some of the following startup expenses:

1. First month’s rent/security deposit

2. First month’s utilities/deposits

3. New POS (point of sale) system

4. Security system

5. Any cosmetic updates the building may need (paint, etc.)

6. New signage/advertisement

After attempting to sell online only for the last couple of years, I have come to realize that the business needs an open-to-the-public physical location in order to thrive and reach its full potential. I also realized how much I enjoyed being a part of the local community and meeting new people at my last space. I miss participating in the different holiday and weekend celebrations, events, and festivities. I miss the daily human connection and shop conversations. Between this and trying to rely on the algorithm of the internet and online marketplaces, it’s been a tough challenge at times. I know that with a shop space in the city, VS couldn’t help but flourish and grow, and I could finally pour something back into the community again. With that being said, I am very excited to join the local STL scene!
