Vinnie's Top Surgery Fundraiser

Hey, I'm Vinnie and I would love your help.

I'm a trans person who is looking to get top surgery which will remove the breast tissue from my chest.

I am looking to get this surgery for two main reasons.

Firstly, I am transgender and do not feel my chest represents who I am. I experience gender dysphoria daily because of this. This contributes to depression, anxiety and can be debilitating at times. Having a flatter chest will give me a body I can feel comfortable in.

Secondly, since puberty, I have struggled with chronic back pain caused by my chest. I am currently supporting around 3kg of weight on my chest. (That's about the same as a brick, 5 basket balls or eight cans of soup!)

I have begged doctors to resolve this and in return they have denied me surgery and have put me on regular strong painkillers.

I was informed that if I were to have the surgery, through public health care, the size of the reduction would not be my choice and, very likely, I would end up being a D cup anyway.

The waitlist for gender affirming surgery in the UK can be up to 8 years long. Help me cut that time and live freely as myself.

In order to get the surgery I need a surgery referral letter from a GP which will cost me £150. I am in the process of contacting surgeons that offer drain free surgery as this process is most suited to my health needs. (Please read this article to learn more: Drain Free Surgery) I will update this page with a detailed financial plan as soon as I have a firm cost from one of these surgeons.

I am currently a second year degree student in Birmingham and am working two jobs to support myself and so cannot afford this on my own. The money raised will go towards the cost of surgery, travel fees and support during recovery. (Due to my various health conditions and disabilities I will need extra support and recovery time)
