Hi, I’m Nia and I’ll be running 100k in May to raise money for a beautiful baby boy named Vinnie.
Vinnie was born with a very rare condition called Goldenhar Syndrome, which affects around 1 in every 3,500–5,500 births. Because of this condition, Vinnie was born with an underdeveloped left ear and no right eye. He also has a tracheostomy to help him breathe and requires a feeding tube.
Despite everything he faces each day, little Vinnie still manages to bring an incredible amount of joy to everyone around him. His smile and spirit light up every room, and he continues to inspire so many people.
Vinnie’s parents, Grace and Rhys, have been by his side every step of the way. Because Vinnie requires 2-to-1 care, they have both had to give up their jobs to care for him full time. Even with the challenges they face, they continue to do everything they possibly can to give Vinnie the best life.
Due to the rarity of Vinnie’s condition, there are only a handful of places in the world that can provide the specialist treatment he needs. Regular trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London cost over £500 each time, and the family is also trying to fund another trip to Rome, where doctors are hoping to begin the process of creating a prosthetic eye for Vinnie.
With both parents unable to work while providing the constant care Vinnie needs, these costs quickly become overwhelming.
That’s where we hope we can help. By supporting this fundraiser, you can help ease the financial pressure on Grace and Rhys and allow them to focus on what matters most — caring for their amazing little boy.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference in helping Vinnie get the treatment and support he needs.
