Our friend Vinish Vijayan (SVCE 1995-1999 CSE, Aricent 1999-) passed away on September 27th, 2019.
He had contracted Dengue and was hospitalized for several days. The evening he joined work, he came back from work and was fine, spending time with his kids. He developed breathing issues and was hospitalized again. He passed away as a result of heart attack when he was in ICU. His unexpected demise is a great loss to his family. To help in whatever way we could we are requesting friends who could extend a supporting hand to donate for his memorial. We are planning to give it to Vinish’s wife as a token of respect for her husband.
Vinish has positively impacted a lot of his friends and colleagues. His grounded philosophy was a beacon of hope and calmness for every soul battered by the trials of modern workplace and its materialistic bent. Anytime i remember him, I feel a sense of calmness and a sense of altruistic purpose in life. His simple and principled life was a daily reminder that Life is as complicated as what we choose it to be. I am sure all of us who know him well would cherish the time we spent with him. He was not materialistic in any sense and was a true friend who spoke from the heart with no machinations. He has well deservedly earned the respect and admiration of us all.
His school mate Bala’s beautiful write up captures Vinish’s essence:
VINISH - PUREST SOUL OF OUR TIME.
Vini was always satisfied in his life with what he had. Despite being an excellent solution architect, who possessed skills to build any modern day routers in the 5G world, I still doubt whether he had designed his life properly. He stayed in a rental house in Adyar and went to his office CapGemini (Erstwhile Futuresoft -》 Hughes -》Aricent), only on shared autos daily. Vinush worked in the same company for last 19 years while the company name has got transformed around him by continuous takeovers. Vinish had enough opportunities to get settled in the west in the early 2000 due to his excellent technical skills, but he avoided that. He wanted to be with his parents and did not want to leave them alone. Vini used to travel for 5 hours a day between 2000-2010 on a daily basis (with most of RFC and latest research publications read during these trips) to Tiruvallur despite had options to rent/own a place in Chennai thereby spoiled his health with ulcer and gastro issues due to late night home cooked food at home by 11.30 PM for over 10 years. Vinish did recovered after this problem. Vinish did not wanted a fancy life. While Vinish managed to get his driving licenses, he felt that due to his myophic eyesight, he might hit someone of wearing glasses and did not own a a bike or car till date. He was always careful in his life not to affect or hurt anyone knowingly or unknowingly, he even avoided any promotions and even requested his managers not to give him any promotions and have him only as an engineer. This helped most of his peers/juniors grow. How many of us have the gut to act like this in the current materialistic world ? Vinish was indeed a real human being, imbibed such true characters to the core, practised and did not deviated. On a surprise, Vinish was always fond of good Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi movies. Whenever he gets time, he did not miss those. Those were the only entertainment for him. Vinish was a soulmate for few of us, spared his few hours with our parents in Tiruvallur since we used to work away from Tamilnadu in the last decade. Also, Vinish never missed to wish on a call or text on our birthdays or anniversaries in the last 2 decades. While i know Vinish never would have continued in this whatsapp group for long, but wanted to give him a surprise with all your wishes two days back. But I never felt Vini would leave us for ever. I still believe that Vinish had lived his life enough and there is no space for such a real soul in this materialistic world. Now, I am more worried about his family.
I still do not know how to console his wife Thulasi and the 2 small children Gowtham and Shreyas of ages 9 and 6.
Please pray for VINISH, the purest SOUL to Rest in Peace and his family to get strength in overcoming this sudden loss.
