Hi,
My family (mom, dad, brother, and grandma) who are essential workers, tested positive for COVID on December 25th. The morning of December 30th my brother called 9-1-1 because my dad was struggling to breathe in his sleep, my dad was rushed to St. Jude's Emergency Room in critical condition. By the afternoon, my brother could not breathe and my mom called 9-1-1, he was also rushed to St. Jude's Emergency Room in critical condition.
The next five days my partner and I slept and lived out of my Prius across the street from my parent's house, monitoring my mom and grandma's condition and making sure their symptoms didn't worsen. All the while I was taking phone calls and making life or death decisions in regards to my dad's and brother's critical conditions. My partner and I are now staying at a friend's house close by.
On the night of January 3rd, 2021, I received a phone call from the hospital. I was so emotionally and physically exhausted I was asleep and missed the call. The nurse left a voicemail telling me that my dad was not doing well and asked if I could come in to say my goodbyes. On January 4th, 2021 I woke up in the morning and frantically called the hospital. He was still alive and barely holding on. My mom could not come because she was COVID positive. I video called my mom and we said goodbye to him through a glass door in an ICU filled with patients hooked up to ventilators. Two hours later he passed. My dad spent his whole life taking care of us and in his last moments took care of us by giving us that moment to say goodbye. He waited all night for us.
My dad, Vinh Le, full of love and caring for anyone he came in contact with passed away at 10:46 AM on January 4th, 2021.
This Go Fund Me is to help with funeral and medical expenses. Anything helps, anything can help lessen this heavy weight on our shoulders and hearts.
Please also, if you could, send a prayer, energy, love, and especially strength to my brother who is still in critical condition.
Thank you,
Christine
