“In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

As we launch our Winter 2025-2026 fundraiser, we reflect on the arrival of Jesus, the light of the world, long ago in Bethlehem. That night, hope came to a world full of darkness and oppression as a little baby in a manger. And while we celebrate, knowing that this light would go on to defeat darkness and evil at the cross and the empty tomb, we recognize that the war against the darkness continues to this very day, for all is not yet as it should be. Yet, even in the valley of the shadow of death, we walk with hope, knowing that the light advances and that the light will be victorious.

This past year brought many challenges for Vine Ministries. In its first months of 2025, the gang violence that has displaced a record 1.4 million Haitians also displaced our ministry when the quiet, mountainside town where our orphanage was located for many years came under a sustained gang attack. Thankfully, the Lord provided a new building in a neighboring village this spring, as well as safe passage for our children and staff, allowing us to continue our work during a time when the need is as great as it may ever be. We praise God for his deliverance from the darkness surrounding us in that moment and for the chance to continue providing the children of Haiti with a safe place to stay at a time when safety has become so difficult to find.

As we celebrate Christmas together this season, we ask you to join us in our efforts to show Christ’s love to Haiti’s most vulnerable through our Winter 2025-2026 fundraiser. This year, we are also very excited to announce that our friends at KCDS-AIDSFAM (https://kcds-aidsfam.godaddysites.com/) have agreed to match all donations made during our winter campaign! We thank God for our wonderful friends at KCDS, as well as everyone whose generous support has helped us get to where we are today.

As in previous years, all funds raised will first go to ensuring that the children have suitable housing for the first half of the coming year. We are prayerfully considering whether to continue renting the lovely space we found this spring or pursue the purchase of a nearby building that has recently become available. If the funds required for housing are surpassed, any additional funds will go to securing other essentials for the children, such as medicine, clothing, and school supplies.

We ask you to prayerfully consider helping us hold high the light of Christ in Haiti this season, at a time when our country needs it most.
