Help us support Vincent through cancer surgery and recovery
Donation protected
Recently our dear friend Vincent Ferris was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue, and today is the day of the surgery. Treatment and recovery will be long and difficult; doctors can’t predict when he’ll regain simple functions we take for granted like swallowing, eating, or speaking. But Vincent is ready for the challenge as he’s been in considerable pain and struggling to get though each day. The diagnosis and anticipation of surgery were scary but to be on the road to recovery was a thought that brought comfort to Vin.
While FMLA will guarantee his job and health insurance will be there for him when he returns to work, it won’t provide income during the many weeks of his recovery time. As you can imagine, this is a huge financial burden, especially since Vin also cares for his 84-year-old mom, Kay.
We’re reaching out to raise funds to help support him during recovery. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward this effort.
If you know Vinnie then you know one of the funniest, most inventive, most creative people I’ve ever met (with a touch of Andy Kaufman-esque mischievousness.) Always warm and generous, now he’s facing a challenge that will require our help and generosity.
Vincent was the first friend I made when I moved to Seattle more than 30 years ago, and I had no idea how lucky I was. Join me in doing what we can to speed his recovery. Many thanks for your consideration.
