A wise ancient king wrote: “I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all.” – Ecclesiastes 9:11.

QUICK SUMMARY
:  On April 18th, I drove myself to Urgent Care with very bad foot pain. The next day on the 19th, I had an appointment with my regular doctor and she sent me to see a Hematologist on the 20th.  On the 25th a bone marrow biopsy was done and additional series of blood tests were done. Then, on April 26th an unexpected call from the doctor with diagnosis of AML – Acute Myeloid Leukemia. My wife and I were stunned with disbelief.

We went to ER on April 28th, because of my energy level being very low. I was admitted to the hospital on the 30th for observation and additional blood tests. Finally, on May 2nd I returned home.

This diagnosis has come as quite a shock, since I have always been healthy. I will be out of work indefinitely, focusing solely on improving my quality of life. I asked Lani to stay beside me and she immediately suspended all work, in order to give support and provide care 24x7.

We hope to raise enough money so I, along with Lani, can focus on my health and comfort over the coming days, weeks or months. The goal is to reduce financial stress due to significant reduction in incoming resources, to cover living expenses,  medical expenses that are beginning to arrive in the mail and other related expenses . Medical costs would have been significantly greater with extended treatment but there were still many tests and hospital bills still coming in.

Any size donation/contribution will be much appreciated. If you can’t donate yourself and would like to help out, please spread the word by sharing with friends, family and coworkers! With each person aware of our need and sharing it will help us reach goals.
