Vilma Nelly Perez was born in Honduras on March 13th, 1964 to parents Isabel and Miguel Suazo. Vilma grew up with seven loving brothers and sisters: Luis, Javier, Milton, Karla, Ivan, Darwin, and Claudette.
Vilma moved to the United States in 1980. In the United States she met the love of her life, Carlos Luis Perez. They were married on February 21st, 1986, and they spent thirty-two happily married years together. Vilma and Carlos had three beautiful daughters Vivian, Jazmine, and Daisy. On May 17th 2018 they fulfilled a shared dream of being married through church in a beautiful ceremony.
Vilma had two grand-children, Lucas and Logan, whom she adored. Vilma also had many godchildren, nieces, and nephews. Vilma was always part of a big family that she helped put and keep together creating countless memories in the process. She cared deeply about her family, and was a wonderful role model.
It was because of her warm, loving personality that she also nurtured many friendships throughout the years. Vilma touched many lives and brought laughter and joy to those around her. She loved to joke with family and friends, and she had a wonderfully contagious laugh.
Vilma was an extremely hardworking women. She graduated from City College with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Later, she graduated from Hunter College with a Masters of Science in Education, and a second Masters of Science in Administration. Through her positions as a Teacher, and later as an Assistant Principal she devoted her life to providing a safe place and an education to children. She was a vital part of her school community and was loved and respected by both co-workers and students.
Vilma passed away on May 28th 2018 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was strong, caring, loving, outgoing, smart, and beautiful. Vilma is already missed, but will never be forgotten.
