Friends of Pete and Vickie have set up this fundraiser with the hopes of helping them offset some of the costs of Vickie’s medical care. Vickie has been struggling for well over a year with back issues and has been unable to work. She underwent back surgery several months ago and was making a slow recovery when she was hit by acute and advanced diverticulitis. After 11 pain-filled days in the hospital, she underwent surgery to remove some parts and pieces that were too damaged to heal. She remains in the hospital and has begun the slow process of recovery. Please pray for healing and for peace of mind.
Pete and the boys are making it through daily life with the ever-present worry about Vickie and her health. Evan is a freshman at Embry Riddle in Daytona, Florida, and Gavin is an eighth grader while Pete continues to work with kids with special needs as well as coaching his Class A baseball teams and giving private lessons. They are a busy family!
Vickie and Pete are blessed to have their families to help. Vickie’s mom, Judy, is a constant in their life while Terry and Pete’s family are sources of strength and unending love. But nothing takes the place of Vickie being in good health.
Here is where you come in!! You may be asking yourself or texting to Pete and Vickie-“how can I help?” This GoFundMe has been set up for you the show your love and support and possibly to alleviate some of the worry and the costs that comes with hospitals, surgeries, doctors, therapies, etc. Donate a little or a lot (as you see fit) and let your love shine through to this amazing family!!
Many many thanks!

UPDATE (09.27.23)--We reached the initial goal of $5000. AMAZING! THANK YOU! So, let's keep it going....
Since having surgery several days ago, Vickie is still in the hospital with no proposed release date, although plans are being discussed about moving to a skilled nursing facility before going home. She is participating in physical therapies and occupational therapies each day, and is slowly introducing solid foods back into her system. The recovery process is slow and painful...the mental fatigue and exhaustion is real and often overwhelming. The thoughts of the days and months ahead are frightening, but Vickie is resilient and strong. She will face the challenges with tenacity and grace and her wonderful sense of humor.
We encourage you to share this GoFundMe on your Facebook pages and encourage your friends to donate to this amazing family. Thank you! Thank you!
UPDATE (10.10.23)--Vickie has moved to a rehabilitation facility in the Medical Center where she is receiving physical and occupational therapies several times a day. Recovery is a slow process, but Vickie is resilient and her spirit is strong. Her insurance is what decides the length of her stay at the rehab facility. As we all know. the insurance and health care system is difficult to navigate and can be quite overwhelming. The donated funds from this campaign will help Pete and Vickie in the months to come. Thanks for helping this sweet family.
UPDATE (10.14.23)--Vickie got home on Thursday afternoon and is adjusting to a quieter setting. She is still receiving antibiotics through an IV and is on many medications, but she is glad to be home and ready to begin her journey to better health. Please continue to keep her and her boys in your prayers.
