Village Playgarden's Fundraiser
Donation protected
Dear Village Playgarden families, friends, and supporters,
This year we are doing something different, and we are asking for your support. As many of you know, this has been a challenging year for our family. The loss of both of Geoff’s parents was very difficult, and our time and energies needed to stay with our family instead of producing the Spring Benefit.
The Spring Benefit, along with our Autumn Pumpkin Patch, assure that we are able to purchase needed supplies, make capital repairs and improvements, and offer professional development opportunities for teaching staff. To this end we are asking all Village Playgarden families, friends, and supporters to make the most generous contribution you can to this Go Fund Me Campaign. If you are a Village Playgarden family (currently enrolled or alumni) please encourage your supportive friends and your children’s grandparents to contribute to the school that has been such an important part of your child’s foundation.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 and there are some specific projects for which the Spring fundraiser dollars are earmarked.
1. Work with master gardener and urban farmer Rishi Kumar to a) clean up and restore the barn area where children spend their farm days every week, b) increase organic food production and bolster the gardening program for Village Playgarden’s healthy food program, and c) layout a larger and improved 2018 Pumpkin Patch--$5,000.
2. Work with a carpenter to build a bannister to line the hillside stairs from the parking lot up to Village Playgarden in support of all community members who need a little support getting up the stairs--$3,000.
3. Play yard improvements: new playstructure, monkey bars (to support upper body strength), and a sun shade for sandbox--$2,000.

Village Playgarden is a holistic early childhood community and kindergarten offering a unique combination of features: we are a nature based, developmental, and play based early childhood community where children 3 to 6 years old and their families are cared for. Inspired by Waldorf education, progressive education, nonviolent parenting, and sustainable living, Village Playgarden has been serving families and children with quality early childhood and parent education for 10 years.

We grow and prepare our own organic food, care for many farm animals, sing songs, tell stories, make art, play, celebrate seasonal festivals, and live simply as a basis for the foundation of a healthy start for young children and support for their families. Village Playgarden is committed to a just and diverse world, and in so being works to maintain a diverse community of children and families including people of color, single parent house holds, LGBTQ families, adopted children, and children with special physical or sensory needs. Just on the perimeter of Los Angeles at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Village Playgarden is a magical place where children thrive in their right to a safe, protected space where their imaginations are allowed to soar and their fundamental needs are met.
Your generous support will help us continue to offer holistic care for children and their families and protect the magic of childhood.
In a spirit of light and gratitude.
Thank you,
-- Kikanza and Geoff
