Village of Forest Park Needs Two Flagpoles
Donación protegida
Help our village properly observe and follow the Illinois Flag Honors Act by donating to fund the installation of a second flag pole outside our Village hall. The Act asks that when a member of military service or a first responder anywhere in our state dies in service to our state, we also post the flag representing their branch of military service. We are not currently able to do this. A second flag pole would also allow us to honor veterans of WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War living in our village, according to our flag policy. It is not enough to post on social media; we should fly their flags at Village Hall.
Our veterans and missing service members fought for our freedoms under the American flag, but we acknowledge their sacrifice by flying their war flags in addition to the American flag and the POW-MIA flag. We need to create space and revere their gift of service.
This fund should also allow us to illuminate the American flag at night, as the Village is currently flying the American flag after dusk.
A second flag pole will also allow us to recognize the contributions of dynamic, creative and diverse community we call home. Please contribute to help us honor and cherish our vibrant community and to help us ensure that we revere the sacrifice of those who give their all to keep us free.
