My name is Laurie Bennett, and I had the privilege of teaching Kindergarten at Village Meadows Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona for the last five years. The past four years we supported the families through a food box drive, and we would like to continue the effort again this year.
Village Meadows is a Title I School. 90% of the students receive free and reduced lunch. All of the students are fed breakfast in the classroom each morning. On a daily basis, teachers witness the gratitude that students express for the simplest of gestures. Our goal through this campaign is to provide a box of food for the neediest families, to ensure students have meals during the two weeks of Christmas vacation when they are not eating breakfast and lunch at school.
Last year, through the generous donations of so many, we were able to deliver over 125 food boxes! We would love to hit this goal again with your help. It is a big goal, but we serve a big God. This is a small way to show the love of Christ to the Village Meadows school community.
