Support my residency at Vermont Studio Center
Don protégé
Hi everyone,
In May 2024, I will be headed to attend a 3 week photography residency at Vermont Studio Center! I'm beyond grateful to have been selected for this incredible prestigious opportunity, following the footsteps of other inspiring artists and writers who have attended the residency before me.
During this time, I plan to work on a project that unpacks the relationship between history, memory, and photographic evidence and highlights narratives that have been obscured by dictatorship and political repression in Russia. It has been a few very difficult years, and I am uplifted to have this chance to continue my research and work.
I have been generously granted partial funding, however, the remaining fees, travel, and attendance cost are still out of reach for me. I am asking for community support to help me financially and/or share this post.
The funds requested will be used to cover the remainder of the residency fee which includes room and board, private studio, and the commute to and from the residency and Gofundme platform fee.
This will be my first long-term residency and give me uninterrupted time and space outside of teaching and work, crucial for the attention that my research and project require.
In addition, I will be immersed amidst other artists and have the chance to connect and build community . As an immigrant artist, teacher, and life-long learner, I will bring the skills I gained back to my Hudson Valley home, to my students, fellow artists, educators, and organizations, nurturing the creativity and artistic practice of those I work with and am surrounded by.
In addition, to this crowdsourcing, I am also applying to other grants and working multiple gigs to help me pay the balance due by April 4, 2024. I have created 3 contribution tiers as a small token of thank you for your generosity.
If you are not able to contribute, a repost or words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.
With grattitude,
Viktorsha
