Viktor’s Big Build

Viktor lives with his brother and loving parents, Kate and Val in Finglas. The Szepiet family are raising money to make their home accessible for Viktor.

Viktor is the loveliest most good-humoured boy anyone could meet. Viktor captures the hearts of everyone around him with his infectious smile and good-natured spirit.

In October 2023 our beautiful boy Viktor received a life-changing diagnosis of IRF2BPL disorder – a Neurodevelopmental Disorder with regression, abnormal movements, loss of speech and seizures. This is an extremely rare, rapidly progressive neurological condition. This diagnosis means that Viktor is experiencing a progressive loss of skills especially gross motor, fine motor, speech and feeding.

Our lives have been turned upside down.

Viktor had no difficulties prior to this, now he is losing his speech his mobility and other skills.. Viktor throughout this has always kept a smile on his face and he is his mammy’s angel.

This condition means that Viktor requires an accessible home. The home needs a whole specialised downstairs configuration to his home, allowing for extra space to cater towards his needs. This would include a downstairs bedroom, an accessible bathroom and storage for his equipment. Viktor uses a wheelchair now and our home is nowhere near wheelchair accessible so it would also enable Viktor to move around independently into the house and around the house, thus improving his quality of life.

These housing adaptations need to happen urgently as at the moment Viktor is sleeping on the couch and he cannot access the home in his wheelchair, he needs to be carried.

With the size of the job and the cost of building materials at the moment, this could cost nearly 130K.

With a lack of anywhere else to turn, we are looking to the community for support.

If you can help at all with the cost of Viktor’s Big Build then please donate if you can.

We would be eternally grateful.

Viktor is a special little boy who brightens up the world around him with his smiles and giggles, an accessible home is the very least he deserves. We don’t know what the future holds for our family but we want to make Viktor’s life as happy and comfortable as possible in these circumstances.
