Viktor and Inna Starting Again

Our names are Michael/Sarah Bumstead, and this fundraiser is for recent refugees from the war in Ukraine, Viktor and Inna Gurieieva. We first met Viktor and Inna when we were in Ukraine on a volunteer trip as teens, approximately 20 years ago. Viktor and Inna were wonderful hosts and obviously cared deeply about making life better for the children in their small village where we worked during the summer. While we lost touch with them, quite by coincidence, we discovered that they (their children, their children's spouses, and grandchildren) had all fled the fighting in Ukraine and made their way to Calgary, Canada. They are all staying with a host family in temporary accommodations.

It has been challenging to flee their home country and leave behind all of their possessions. They are actively looking for work in Calgary but need at least one vehicle to get kids to school/adults to work from where they are staying, and unfortunately car insurance is quite expensive with no Canadian driving history, and used vehicle prices are also quite high right now. All funds will be distributed to Inna in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for them to use to purchase and insure a vehicle for use by them and their family.
