Vietnam Hotel 2-7 1st Marine Division Reunion 2025

My name is Lorrie McKinney (little sister), My Brother Jerry Moorehead is a Vietnam Marine Combat Veteran, Hotel Co., 2nd.Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (H 2/7). He has taken on the task of putting together their 16th Reunion in Des Moines, Iowa. I would like all the Veterans and their families to see, Iowa Hospitality with all the love and support for them in our State. As you know their numbers are dwindling fast each year, so let’s show them best reunion of all.

Remember back during Vietnam era our military didn’t come home to crowds welcoming them, a lot of us are remembering then and now seeing some of them home with physical and emotional issues. This coming together of brothers helps them move passed the anger, guilt and memories of their experience in Vietnam.

The estimated attendance for the three-day reunion is around 125 to 150 Marines and Corpsman including their spouse/families. Many of these veterans are traveling from all over the United States. Giving these Veteran Marines and Corpsmen the opportunity to reconnect and reestablishing their ties to each other. Each time one of these reunions is held there are new Hotel 2/7 Veterans arrive that have never attended one before. They have not attended because they just found about the reunions or they did not know if they would be able to handle it or they were not sure if they wanted to bring back all their memories and feelings. Most go home glad that they came and reunited with the men they shared the same experiences with. They were grateful to be able to talk with someone who actually knew their feelings. We want this event to be enjoyable and memorable for all.

As the hosts sister and helper for this H 2/7 Reunion and on a limited budget, we are humbly asking for any donation to help make this event possible. We would love to help veteran who can’t afford this trip, give prizes to our attendees and provide snacks and drinks in the hospitality room. Any help you can contribute to reduce the event cost to these Veterans in either of these areas is greatly appreciated and will touch the hearts of all those attending the. Reunion in May 2025. We are getting things rolling for the future reunion. Any money left over will be use for seed money for the next reunion and a portion given to a local charity.
