My son was injured while on duty while in Navy in 1972. He had back surgery Feb 8 of this year to correct broken bones in back. During surgery he had three strokes that paralized him on his left side. He is permanently disables now. Strokes during surgery are devistating as they can't use the drug to counter act stroke because of bleeding. During all his pre-opt, before they would operate his personal Dr told him he must have a full cardiac workup before he would clear him as he had a stroke 2 years previously when he was taking the medicin Harvoni for hepititis. Dr Rosen gave Randy a prescription with these orders on it. When Randy's primary Dr with the VA saw the prescription she said "you don't need it and I will clear you without it". She knew abouit theyheprevious stroke. Both the surgeon and anesthesiologist told us they would never have done the surgery had they known this fact. Ad to this delema the surgeon came into the ICU right afer surgery and told Randy the strokes were caused from the using too many steroids in the anathesia. More confusion. Randy was a computer expert, wrote programs and I have never seen a computer he couldn't repair. He has lost most allof this knowedge and can't type as he has such tremors in his good hand he can hardly eat now. Such a pity to see such an inteligent successful man be destroyed from so many mistakes by the Phoenix VA. His carotid arteries are sevrelyblocked and something must be done before he has another stroke that the doctos say would probably kill him.. Meanwhile the Phoenix VA does nothing which is the norm in this hospital. He must have surgery to clean out these arteries immediately. His days of making money is over and his wife had to quit her job to take care of him. I live with them as I'm 86 and we can't make ends meet on my meagor SSA. We arent big spenders but need help badly now to survive this storm snd not lose everything in the process.. There isn'ta day that his wife dnd I don'vry snd keepig a positive is getting harder and haarder.doesnt
