- This fundraiser is for Vierra Howard. She was recently diagnosed with Ductal carcinoma in situ breast cancer. Her double mastectomy surgery was done 10/8/21, and further testing on her lymph nodes is being done to see if more treatment is needed. We are raising funds to help with rent, bills, and living expenses. The last three months have been a whirlwind of emotions for my mom and my family. She has had to miss work for appointments, and will continue to take leave from work during her recovery. About three months ago, my mother informed my siblings and I about a disfigurement or indention in her breast. After becoming aware of these growing concerns, we immediately sought to find some answers. Unfortunately, the answers were not what we expected to hear. Our biggest fear became our reality. Breast cancer is a scary thing to be diagnosed with but my mom did not hesitate to fight and be proactive against the most effective treatment. She is an incredibly strong women, mother, and grandmother. This has been a constant uphill battle that is not over yet. My mom has been a server since she was 16 years old. She has been serving Wichita for over 40 years. The support raised, will help her survive and pay for her monthly bills during her time of recovery.
