1872 — Presidential Candidates: Ulysses S. Grant, Horace Greeley, B. Gratz Brown, Charles J. Jenkins, David Davis, Thomas A. Hendricks, Charles O'Conor and Victoria Woodhull — Wait, what?? Who’s Victoria Woodhull and isn’t she a SHE?
Yes, she is! Victoria Woodhull rose from a poverty-stricken background with little education to become the first woman to publicly address the United States Congress AND first woman to run for U.S. president. She and her sister, Tennessee Claflin, were suffragists, newspaper owners and the first women stockbrokers on Wall Street. In other words, Victoria Woodhull is the most famous woman in American History you've never heard of!
Eden Valley and FilmAffects want to introduce you to this fearless female. But we need your help to bring this sensational story to life. Will you please join us on our Campaign Trail to tell this tale by donating to our project? This campaign is to help pay for a documentary about Victoria. We have already completed a book and storytelling program about this feisty female which has been well-received.
We began our major fund-raising campaign in early 2020. We held a successful fund-raiser in February and then – COVID struck. As you can imagine, the pandemic required us to make a number of changes in our plans. Though we still intend to complete this film, we have come to the conclusion that the only way to manage it is to do it on our own. What this means is that we will not be actively seeking foundation grants, but will be using the funds from our murder mystery fund-raiser and counting on the continued support from donors like you! Of course, this means scaling back the scope of the project, but it will allow us to move forward after having lost so much momentum during the COVID shut down.
Our final goal is to raise $10,000 by March 31, 2022 and begin production in April, 2022, so please join us as we approach the finish line and help us meet this goal. Know that no amount is too small! All donations are tax deductible under section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed and we thank everyone in advance who can join us in these final days.
