Hi I am Frank Hallett and I am helping my niece Lucy go to the U19 World Rowing Championships.
This August, 18-year-old Lucy Hallett will proudly represent Canada at the 2025 World Rowing U19 Championships in Trakai, Lithuania—her second time donning the maple leaf on the international stage. Last year, she represented Canada at the Mega World Championships in the junior women’s pair.
Lucy has been selected to compete in the U19 Women’s Single Sculls, facing off against 25–30 of the world’s best young rowers. It's an extraordinary honour, and Lucy is excited to take on the challenge.
Who is Lucy?
Lucy hails from Victoria, BC, and graduated from high school in June. A multisport athlete and fierce competitor, Lucy was nationally ranked in swimming and, since making the transition to rowing in 2023, has won both the single and 8+ events at the 2023 Henley Regatta, the pair at 2024 Canadian High School Rowing Championships (CSSRAs), and the single at 2025 CSSRAs, among many other individual and crew victories. In September, she will attend the University of Michigan, where she’ll join the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Varsity Rowing Program, after being actively recruited across North America.
Rowing excellence runs in her blood. Lucy’s father, Todd Hallett, is a three-time Olympian and Pan Am medalist in rowing. Her coaching team includes Miki Chantler and Terry Paul, who himself was part of Canada’s gold medal–winning Men’s 8 crew at the 1992 Olympics.
The Challenge
As is the case in many sports, the cost of international competition falls heavily on athletes and their families—especially for rising stars like Lucy.
The total cost to get to the start line in Lithuania is $9000+, including:
• $3,700 athlete assessment fee to Rowing Canada
• $2,700 in travel expenses
• $2,500+ for coaching support
We are reaching out to our community—friends, family, sports lovers, and champions of youth potential—to help ease the financial burden and ensure Lucy can focus fully on representing her country with strength and pride.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about one race. It’s about a young woman chasing her Olympic dream with grit, humility, and heart. It’s about legacy—following in her father’s Olympic footsteps. It’s about showing what’s possible when talent meets opportunity—and when community rises to support it.
You can help Lucy get to the world stage.
Every contribution—large or small—makes a difference. Whether you're a fellow rower, a proud Canadian, a supporter of youth sport, or someone who believes in big dreams, your support will help Lucy compete at her very best.
