Victoria's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On April 25th, we took our Queen Victoria Rose Matta to the emergency room after a few unresolved visits to the pediatricians for headaches. At the ER we requested a CT scan with results that has changed our lives forever. Victoria was diagnosed with a golf ball size tumor in her brain and were informed that an ambulance was on their way to take her to a pediatric emergency hospital in Orlando. Without shedding a tear Victoria jumped in the ambulance and few days later Tori was prepping for life saving brain surgery. Instantly life changed and the realization of Tori missing her favorite activities including end of the school year field trip, her last soccer games, and her 5th grade graduation became reality.
Due to a pre-operative complication surgery was delayed to May 17th. Up to the day of Victoria’s surgery for weeks Victoria was on bed rest while her symptoms became harder to manage.
On May 17th and after a very intense 9-hour surgery, we were notified that the surgery was more complicated than expected and for Victoria’s safety the tumor could not be fully resected. Additionally, based on the anticipated brain swelling and again for her safety Victoria's skull bone (bone flap) was not put back and she would need a second procedure to put the bone flap back after the swelling subsided. Victoria spent close to three weeks in the hospital following the initial surgery and eventually we were able to go back home for a few days before going back to put the bone flap in. Luckily the bone flap surgery was successful, however the residual tumor is there, and Victoria faces a daunting treatment to shrink the remaining tumor.
These treatments will consist of daily weekday visits two hours from home in Orlando for six to eight weeks (30-40 treatments in total)
As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly difficult time for our family and even harder on our Queen Victoria. The hardest part has been explaining to her that our summer which was supposed to consist of taking a family trip to Puerto Rico is now filled with hospital appointments, blood work, physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.
Victoria is incredibly strong and although a fundraiser will not take her pain away, it will allow for the best medical care and for us to hold her hand every step of the way. We're hoping to raise $30,000 to help cover expenses. These donations will go towards hospital stays, medication, doctor's visits, and any other medical expenses that may arise. We're grateful for any support you can provide, and we'll be updating the page regularly with news about my Victoria condition.
Asking for money is never easy and donating sometimes is just as difficult. So for those who can donate, thank you, for those who want to donate but cannot currently please consider donating in the future and for those who can’t but want to help you also have a part to play by sharing our story.
We want to thank everyone for the love and continued support.
Please donate and/or share this campaign.
Sharing this campaign will not only open the hearts of others to donate but can bring awareness to brain tumors in children.
We serve a God who performs miracles and has blessed us and hears our prayers that Victoria will be healed.
We Love you all for reading this in its entirely.
