Victoria “Sissy” Binnie

Parents have an instinct within them to protect their children with everything they have, but when they know there is nothing they are physically able to do to help their child, I can’t even begin to imagine the hopelessness, terror, and devastation they must feel. Unfortunately for Aaron and Mindi, this is the situation they are facing. Last week, their three-year-old daughter Victoria Kay Maree Binnie was diagnosed with an inoperable “Diffuse Intrinsic Brain Stem Glioma” or DIPG. DIPG is “a high-grade tumor that is fast-growing and spreads all through the brain stem.” Since the diagnosis, their world has been flipped upside down, and they are still trying to process what is happening to their precious baby girl. Currently, Victoria is receiving steroid medication, and she under went surgery to place a central line for her treatment. Aaron and Mindi take her this Monday to Sydney, Australia to have a biopsy done and begin radiation treatment. As much as this news has completely heartbroken everyone who loves Aaron, Mindi, Harry, Zani, and Tori, we can’t begin to fathom what Aaron and Mindi are going through as they helplessly watch this happen to the little girl who brings so much joy and love to their lives.
As family and close friends, especially those of us who live in the United States, we feel lost trying to find ways to be there and support Mindi and Aaron and their beautiful family during this time. I know the one thing we don’t want Mindi and Aaron to face is any financial stress while they do everything they can for their sweet “Sissy.” They are taking this one day at a time and trying to hold on to hope because right now they just don’t know what tomorrow has in store for them.
Mindi and Aaron want to thank you in advance for praying for Victoria, for the calls, messages, love and support. I know I speak for the entire Binnie and Flickinger family when I say, we can’t thank you enough for helping relieve some of the financial expenses they are going to face as they go through this journey with Sissy.
“Trust the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). I don’t know if we will ever get the answer to the question so many of us are asking—Why? It just isn’t fair.
All donations will be withdrawn by Melissa Flickinger, Aunt to Tori and Mindi’s sister-in-law, and placed in an account for Mindi and Aaron Binnie and then wire transferred to them in Australia. Aaron is notified of each withdrawal and deposit. The money is used to support the family in medical costs and anything they need in their travels to and from Sydney for treatments. Thank you for your love and support during this time.
