Victoria and Sarah's Fashion Film project
Donation protected
Fashion and costume designer, Sarah Forêt, and filmmaker, Victoria Vanderpool have teamed up to produce a fashion film using Forêt's SS 19 collection entitled "Grandma's House". (see the bottom paragraph for a statement about the collection and the film)
We are both soon-to-be graduates of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago this December. In hopes of executing their final project, we are asking friends, family, and art and film enthusiasts alike to donate funds to help cover costs for location, prop, transportation, equipment, craft services for cast and crew.
We hope to reach our financial goal before the shoot which is taking place over the weekend of November 9th, 2019 in the suburbs of Chicago. We are currently applying for grants, film festivals, and other exhibition opportunities, but these will be pending until 2020.
The goal of this film is to capture the uncanny anxieties and fictions of nostalgia through short slow-motion character vignettes incorporating Forêt’s collection. The eccentricities of the garments are reflected through the characters; the characters are enveloped by the garments, the setting, the mood, the house.
The Grandma’s House collection ponders the history and memories archived within the furniture and objects in the home that connects us to the sentimentality of time passed. The comfort and solace we find inside our living space morphs into our reflection which bears witness to our most vulnerable moments. Chicago-based designer, Sarah Forêt reminisces on the mystification of her youth, spent in the sunroom of her grandmother’s home, nestled in the Bible Belt of rural Alabama. The current social and political climate today compels us to return to the childlike curiosity, tenderness, and splendor we experienced in our grandmother’s home. A trip down memory lane does not come without a bittersweet taste of melancholia.
Thank you so much for considering supporting the vision of young artists and designers! We believe in the importance and value of the arts and we appreciate any financial support! Even the smallest donation is valued greatly and will help us reach our goal <3 <3 <3
