Victoria and Marc McMaster’s infertility journey

“There is a unique pain that comes from preparing a place in your heart for a child that never comes.”- David Platt

My name is Jeannie Boardman and I am sharing this story to bring awareness and healing for my dear friend’s Victoria and Marc McMaster. I am asking that if you feel touched by their journey or know of others who are experiencing infertility, please SHARE this story. By donating to Victoria and Marc’s Go Fund Me, you will be supporting them to start IVF in hopes to have a child.
This is there story...

My husband and I were so excited to see the first pregnancy test say positive! We were over the moon thinking of names and wondering who this little baby would be. Planning out every detail with so much love and joy in our hearts. But at ten weeks, like a wave crashing in all of those plans and desires were quickly washed away. I suffered a scary (life threatening) ectopic pregnancy that left us feeling broken. But as the next few months past, we got back on our feet to try again. Little did we know, that the next 4 1/2 years would be full of many more trials, tribulations and heartbreaks. Our infertility journey had started! With a total of 4 miscarriages, 3 uterine reconstructive surgeries, a fallopian tube removal, countless rounds of clomid, needles, appointments and unsuccessful IUI treatments... we were exhausted! Exhausted from loosing four babies and constant bad news. On top of that, I have recently been told that I have low quality and low quantity eggs . Even with perfect timing and help from infertility specialists, Marc and I have been told we have at most a 5% chance of ever conceiving a child.

“May Your kindness, Lord, be upon us; we have put out hope in You. Psalm 33:22

Attempting IVF is our next step in this journey. I have been told that I am a perfect candidate for IVF, with a 55-80% chance success rate of conceiving. However, IVF comes with a hefty price, averaging cost is $17,000-$22,000. Health insurance does not cover our IVF treatment and this cost makes it nearly impossible. It saddens me to think of the large price tag that is placed on the gift of life, not only for my husband and I but for countless couples suffering with infertility. 1 in 8 couples struggle with infertility, yet it is such a “hush-hush” subject that no one wants to talk about. My hope is to raise awaresness for those struggling to have children. So that couples like us will not be afraid to reach out for help whether it’s financially or emotionally. This road should not be taken alone! I hope this will inspire others to share their personal journey.

Thank you and please keep us in prayer.
