Victor is a 27 year old cancer survivor of 12 years married to his high school sweetheart with five children God has blessed them with. At the age of 14 Victor was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, Liposarcoma, which is a malignant tumor that was located on his right leg's ankle. Doctors informed him and his family that he had either a year or less to live or an amputation was inevitable. So with out much thought on December 4, 2002 he had his amputation at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX. Victor has always worked and provided for his family even with his disablity. He is currently employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer. While working Victor began to have unbearable pain in his stump while wearing his prosthetic leg , it was impossible for him to walk. After several doctors appointments and consultations doctors decided a revision was necessary in order for him to use his prosthetic leg. On December 17, 2014 he had his revision surgery at CHI St. Luke's in Lufkin, TX. As a result he has been out of work since December and is without income. He was denied his short-term and long-term disabilty through his employer since it is considerd a pre-exisiting condition. He has also seeked help with Social Security Disability and SSI and was also denied coverage due to the fact that he is determined to work again as soon as he is healed and able which could be up to five months. Victor will no longer have health insurance effective Febuary 10, 2015 since he is on Leave Without Pay at Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He is needing replacements and revisions on his current prosthetic leg and more doctors visits in the future so he can get back to work for the sake of his family. We ask for your help so his bills and medical bills can be covered. Thank you for taking your time to read this and May God Bless You.
