Hello!

This is a fundraiser set up by Victor's loving family. Victor has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung and throat cancer, and since September 2022 he has been fighting with this horrid disease. Despite this Victor does his best to remain a goofball. He always has a dad joke ready in hand, even as he goes through radiation and chemotherapy. I am Victor's grandson, and along with my grandma his caregiver. Cancer is a hideous monster that affects the lives of everyone involved. The Martinez family has done their best to lovingly support Victor in his fight. He has 14 siblings in total, 13 who are still alive. It is a loving family circle that worries for Victor and cares for him in every way.

Victor has a love for music and was even in a band. He is a wonderful musician who no longer has the strength to pick up a guitar. The radiation has caused him to lose his voice. Despite this Victor's love of music lives on through watching old rock concerts on youtube. Before Victor was diagnosed, he worked hard for many years as a self-employed painter in Santa Fe, NM. As his grandaughter and now his caregiver, I spend as much time with him as I possibly can. When it is time to feed him through his G-Tube, our favorite activity is to put on movies and watch them together. When we watch movies, sometimes we glance at each other and I take those moments to memorize his face. My grandpa inspires me in everything I do. Especially when it comes to humor. Victor has always been a silly goose who loves making people laugh. He has told me multiple times that he likes seeing me laugh at the different movies we watch together.

My dear grandfather has always been a very loving and kind soul. He is a father who has put up with the unbelievable, a husband who treasures his wife, and a grandfather who has proven time and time again that humor goes a long way.
