Victor Lai's World University Games Fundraiser

Hello,

 

My name is Victor Lai and I am a badminton player from Atlanta. I currently train at Triangle Badminton and Table Tennis in North Carolina. I placed third in the recent selection event for the World University Games (WUG) in Chengdu and qualified to be on the team. This will be the first time I can play on Team USA, but unfortunately, the high cost is a big obstacle since we have to pay out of pocket to go.

Donations to this gofundme will go to the WUG tournament fee and travel costs. This is estimated to be between $6,000 and $8,000 depending on airfare (crazy expensive D: ). In order to make the most out of the funds, I hope to also raise money to train in Asia before the WUG. This way I can save on airfare and spend more time among higher-level players.

 

I graduated from Georgia Tech in May 2021 so there isn't much time left in my badminton career. I am unsure I will have the opportunity to play on Team USA in the future so I would like to take this one if possible. I will be working some part-time jobs in the meantime to help fund this trip, but if anyone is able to spare any amount, I will be forever thankful!
