Donation protected
My name is Joao Victor Costa e Silva (“Flash”). I was born and raised in Divinópolis, Brazil.
I started Taekwondo when I was 4 years old and became a black belt when I was 14. Once I turned 15 years old, I started competing and became a Brazilian Junior National team member in 2015.
When I was 16 years old, coach Fabio Takahashi from Boston, MA allowed me the opportunity to move to the United States to practice and teach Taekwondo at his studio. Additionally, I had the opportunity to finish high school in the US in Hanover, MA.
Competing in the US, I became an AAU National Team member, placed 1st at Collegiate Nationals, and 3rd at Pan Am championship. About 2 years ago I decided to join the US Army National Guard and I’m currently a PFC at C Company, 1-182 IN.
Last September, I qualified for next year's Olympic team trials and I am here to ask for your help raising 10k to get there. I will be competing in a tournament in Sweden in November/23 and a training camp in Korea in December/23. Then North Carolina for Olympic Team Trials in January/24.
Currently, I'm a 24-year-old Colorado National Guard infantryman. My goal is to become part of the US National Team doing the sport that I love. I will work towards getting a spot in next year's Olympics because I strive for a gold Olympic medal. And with that, being able to help my family back in Brazil.
