Victims That Refused to Give Up

You know those stories about an average citizen who wouldn’t give up until justice was served? They were a victim of a crime and no one would listen to them or act? This is a gofundme for 2 average guys who never gave up and are the unsung heroes behind the arrests of a pool scam. They refused to let the culprits go unpunished for stealing millions of dollars from over 200 homeowners and they are the reason the criminals were stopped as quickly as they were. I am one of the over 200 victims who fell prey to a pool construction scam in South Florida. A husband and wife duo took millions of dollars from hard working citizens and left us with little more than a hole in the ground.

Thanks to the special agents at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, this couple was arrested in October.

What you don’t know from the headlines is that most of the combined 33 felony charges this criminal couple faces can be traced back to intel that 2 relentless victims uncovered and provided. The bleeding stopped and the bad guys were caught. But now over 200 of us are faced to deal with unbelievable financial hardship and loss. This is not a fundraiser for all of us, it is for the 2 victims who dedicated every waking moment to stopping the scam from continuing. 100s of hours of digging into their business practices, researching and connecting dots. Had they not involved themselves the way they did, the criminal couple would still be out there taking deposits from families right now. Yes, of course they would be stopped eventually, but not as quickly as they were. 

The criminals were caught, so the money they stole goes back to the victims, right? That’s a nice idea, but very unlikely to ever happen as it should. There really is no way to make the victims whole. 

Yes, it’s a fund for a pool and I know that’s a luxury, but hear me out. All of the victims lost thousands. We are hard working families that had finally saved enough to provide this for our family and we were robbed. Some lost more than others. The 2 guys I want you to know about both lost about $45k each. This is a low estimate. They paid the scammers $45k and will never see that money again. Now they will pay that and more to complete the pool.

One has 5 young children and the other has 3 little ones. One is a first responder along with his wife and they worked around the clock when COVID hit in order to put a pool in for their kids cooped up at home. The other family just relocated to Florida after a horrific accident at work. ‘You need a pool to help heal your injuries’, the doctor advised… Working as he once did is no longer an option with his injuries, so he took what money he could spare to help move his life forward, and now it is gone.
