Victim responsible for thousands in medical bills

Hey! My name is Mel. In March my boyfriend, Kennedy got hit by a man who was in the wrong lane, going about at 50mph in a 30mph zone and failed to stop at his stop sign. Kennedy’s femur was broken and was put in a wheelchair. The man who hit him claimed that Kennedy was at fault. And because there were no witnesses who stayed for the police to arrive, the police report read as a “he said, she said” situation. Until we retrieved video footage of the man in the truck failing to stop for his stop sign and clearly plowing into Kennedy (red Jeep) in the wrong lane. Even with the video evidence the man had minimal insurance that cannot pay not only for a new vehicle, but neither the $250,000 in medical bills Kennedy accumulated while in the hospital. After hiring a lawyer, the maximum amount to be received from insurance was $30,000. After all legal fees were paid Kennedy will only be receiving about $15,000 compensation. As for the medical bills, they were lowered to about $12,000. But are still Kennedy’s responsibility.
Please, we are seeking any kind of assistance to help pay for these outstanding medical bills as well as a new vehicle for him. He was out of work for about a year. (He does roofing) and could not work while in recovery.
