Victim of Car Theft Needs Help
I was a special education teacher who retired in October 2019 so I could run my nonprofit full time. Because I was not retirement age, I can not collect my pension. Knowing this, prior to my retirement I saved money & purchased my car, a 2019 Toyota Prius C, in full so I wouldn’t have a payment. Beginning of August, someone stole my car.
I put miles on that lil thing. I teach others how to grow food & drive all over, delivering veggie & fruit plants to schools and community organizations serving marginalized communities to help eradicate food apartheid. As seen in this photo, I collected a literal Prius full of tomato, herb, & squash plants delivered to people in need of food sources during COVID-19.
That Wednesday evening, my car was filled with garden supplies to be delivered to one of the NJ schools in need, office supplies, and my niece’s toddler booster seat. I woke up Thursday, got ready to run my errands for the day, and realized my car was gone. The police told me itwas probably a different color & chopped up or on its way being shipped overseas. I cried all day.
As the CEO of a nonprofit I started, I don’t have a salary. I write articles to make money for house bills, but not enough for a down payment.I have a small savings, but I’ve been out of a job for almost a year, and the Pandemic hasn’t helped. (Due to several autoimmune diseases, I’m in the high-risk category, so I have to be extremely careful).
As much as I hate this, I need help. I am reaching out in hope that the kindness of others will help me get back on the road, helping others.
Thank you for your time.
