
Victim of an Online Investment Scam – My Story & A Warning

My name is Saugat Gurung, and I recently fell victim to a fraudulent online investment scheme. On February 18, 2025, I was contacted by an individual claiming to offer a legitimate online job opportunity. They explained that my role would involve watching monitoring videos and doing task , with a promise of earning some per like over the task
At first, they sent me small payments to build trust. However, on the second day, they urged me to invest money in the platform, assuring me of guaranteed returns. Believing it was a genuine opportunity, I invested £320, £98, and £48.
Shortly after, another person from the platform informed me that, according to their policy, I needed to invest an additional £1,000 before receiving any returns. When I refused and asked for my money back, they keep on insisting and instead pressured me to invest even more.
In total, I lost over £1,500 in this scam with zero recover.
I Reported the Scam – Take Caution
I have officially reported this fraudulent scheme to UK Action Fraud, providing all the details I could. My reference code for the case is NFRC250207186354. And I know it won’t help me to recover any.
Online scams like this are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often appearing as investment opportunities or remote job offers. Scammers use psychological tricks to make their schemes seem trustworthy, such as making small initial payments to gain confidence before asking for more money.
