Mrs. Rebecca Quisumbing
Rebecca, better known as Vicky or Mrs. Q, has acquired many nicknames throughout her life; Mama Q was always my favorite. Mama Q passed on Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her closest loved ones. Having her family with her was what I believe she would have wanted most.
Because of the caring and tender mother, wife, sister and grandmother that she was, Mama Q will be sorely missed. But greater than the sorrow from her passing is the joy that she spread during her short-lived-life. She was an incredibly strong woman and has truly left a legacy that her family and many of her friends will carry on. Mama Q has touched the lives of soooOOO many.
Her favorite park was Medwick Park. She called it Minue Park since it was right near Minue Elementary School, and that's all she knew it by. The park is located within walking distance to the Carteret house where her and Sonny raised four children, along with many more of their friends and families that lived there. She loved going there to pray.
We are going to celebrate her life by donating a park bench named "The Prayer Bench" to provide anyone who sits there a safe place to talk to God. I know this will put a big smile on her beautiful and beaming face! We will also be planting a tree with some of her ashes underneath to represent her spirit living on.
You are welcome to donate anything that you are able to help support the family honoring Mama Q. All the funds donated will go towards helping cover the costs accrued and will be handled directly by the immediate family. Thank you for keeping the Quisumbing family in your prayers and thoughts.
