Vicky's Cancer Journey

This is the very beginning of our story.....

Vicky was first diagnosed with cancer in  2016 (stage I small cell carcinoma of the lung). At this time, the cancer lesion was so small that the oncologist and pulmonologist were very optimistic that immediate intervention would shrink the lesion so much so that it would no longer be a threat. She underwent several treatments of cyberknife (a type of radiation) and did not require chemo due to the small size of the tumor. She did so well!! Just as they had expected, the spot shrank so much that it was undetectable on all scans. This was a much needed answer to our prayers! 
She continued to go back to her oncologist for check ups and continued to have CT scans of her lungs, all of which came back clear! The oncologist was watching her closely but seemed very unconcerned about her swollen lymph nodes throughout this entire time.

This is where it gets real....

In June, Vicky had a fall. She kept it secret (the only two people that knew about the fall were her and Drake--her 9yr old grandson). After this fall, she began doing strange, out of her character things. She would leave the freezer door open, accidentally thawing out everything in her freezer. She would leave her car door open after getting out of it and not even realize she left it open. She started locking herself out of her house. She started driving erratically... Just bad stuff... She finally admitted to having the fall after calling me, Brandy (her daughter) asking what the signs of a stroke are. After this particular phone call she went in the next day to her primary care provider for her symptoms. He ordered a CT head. This just showed what were afraid of....
On July 2, 2018, she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor.....
Apparently the lymph nodes that her oncologist was not concerned with was trying to tell us something the entire time.... as the cancer began its journey spreading through her body. 

To this date, she has had surgery to remove the brain tumor, which went excellent! We could not have asked for a better experience involving a brain tumor!!!! She has had a PET scan that shows that she has cancer on her liver as well.

Vicky's cancer is now inoperable and has progressed to Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. 

Her treatment will involve daily radiation of her brain... Which is performed 1 hour and 15 minutes away from her home....

Chemotherapy, and Immunotherapy which will take 3 hours every 3 weeks. 

We are not ones to ask for any handouts or help!!!***** But, with this being said, we are not too prideful to accept any help. 
This is not something that we are prepared to do and the missed days of work keep piling up....

Your donations will go towards gas to and from the oncology and radiation oncology appointments. We have a long road ahead of us, but we will not give up!
