Vickie Whitehead Jenkins Memorial Scholarship
Donation protected
Who We Are:
The Vickie Whitehead Jenkins Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded by Vickie's daughters, Allison and Kayla Jenkins, to honor their mother and give back to her hometown, Hampton, Tennessee. This scholarship will assist one female student from the Hampton High School graduating class in her pursuit of a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM) related college degree. Any donations made to this GoFundMe page go directly to the scholarship fund, and help us continue our mission of promoting girls' STEM education in the community for years to come.
Vickie Whitehead Jenkins had a lifelong interest in science, including animals, the natural world, and computer science. After graduating from Hampton High School in 1979, Vickie was a pioneer in computer technology when the field was still majority-male dominated. She received her bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University in 1981 and achieved a long career in technology and medical software. She also raised two daughters as a single parent and encouraged them to follow their dreams as far as they would take them.
As her daughters, we want to invest in the future of one girl per year out of the Hampton High School graduating class who plans to pursue a STEM-related field in her college career. Our mother gave us the chance to change our lives forever by pursuing higher education, and we want to do what we can to help girls from her high-school alma mater do the same thing.
